Capturing in Clay the Colors and Textures of nature is my passion. The sensual feel of shaping clay with my hands born of paper cut outs and pencil drawn images. Use of sharp blades cut into hand drawn paper patterns then on to clay hand rolled into tiles that are soft and subtly shaped. Colored Terra Sigillata is applied. Glazes anoint. Bright and vivid off a background of earthen terra-cotta. The element of fire adding the unknown of wanted and unwanted elements. The visual realization of bringing light around the hard shapes to add elements of change and motion into the static installation. Repeated patterns echo off each other but somehow change with hue. Finally all suspended off a mounted armature to lift and illuminate and join together parts and pieces brought into existence through my craft of design.
I find a deep solace in the ability to communicate through clay. I wish for you that they bring the light of the garden into your shelter!
