Listening to Light
Several years ago I began exploring the characteristics of light. I was interested in how the light can affect the overall mood of a scene.
In my paintings I try to incorporate the shadow into the solid objects themselves so you have not only a sense of what’s there but also what’s not there. In using these lost and found edges, I compose the basis of an environment that captures the essence of light. With this limited information, you have enough details to know what the scene is, but also enough room to fill in the missing aspects as you choose.
The mood and emotions evoked become your own personal creation based on your individual experiences. By exploring these compositions you are encouraged to consider what light says to you.
