“I have always been fascinated with the rhythm of words in various forms. I create from an emotional place rather than a visual one and phrases, lyrics, and poetry offer an abundance of inspiration for me. I enjoy the challenge of abstracting these words and recreating them into another art form. I have found that for viewers who have difficulty connecting with abstract art, the process of connecting written art and visual art brings reason and logic to something that at times can be difficult for some viewers to understand. While this is true, the abstracted form also allows viewers to connect with the work in a very personal way. In the end, I hope that my work tells a story that is as unique and individual as those viewing it." –Jennifer Rivera
