A lifetime love of art inspired Carol McCall into a professional career as a painter that has spanned over thirty years. Her formal training was at the University of Kansas where she majored in drawing and painting. After college she lived in the San Francisco Bay area and was active in the art community there. Now living in rural Johnson County, Kansas she shares a studio with her artist husband Bill McCall. Her exhibits in juried shows and plein air painting events have produced numerous awards. She conducts workshops and teaches, often taking her students out into the field for plein air painting. She has served in several art organizations and started a plein air painting event. Her work is shown in some of the region’s finest galleries and is in private and corporate collections across the country.
“The rich tradition of oil painting drew me into what has become a life long passion. I live in the country and the natural world is always an influence as I often work en plein air. Using lush colors and free brush strokes I will mix colors directly on my canvas. I hope that as each painting develops, it will overcome its real inspiration to become a real painting.”
