Ultimately my work is the investigation of life and self exploration. I create my ideas from the everyday. The people and the things I see daily are typically my biggest source of inspiration. The conceptual imagery I draw are snapshots of how my mind works. One minute I am thinking of the past and the next about the future. So I apply that disjunctive way of thinking by using layered imagery in iconographic ways. I want every viewer to have the chance to get involved in the visual narrative that my artwork is expressing. I feel this is best achieved by including imagery that most people could relate to. Recently I have become fascinated with the untold story behind people, objects or animals. Everywhere you look, every item you touch has an underlining story. I have begun creating my own narrative to these untold stories. Animals have caught my eye lately, because each one has a distinct personality and emotions given its treatment or social interaction it has had. Each animal often has its own history. Is it our friend, companion, enemy, hunter, or simply they next source of protein on our dinner table? I often draw children; I am fascinated by their views of the world. They create a honest subject matter that rarely comes from adults. The children in my work are often me as a child but not always, they could be anyone at any time.
