Jean Terry

Jean grew up on a vegetable and grain farm in upstate New York. This hard working country life gave her a lasting appreciation for outdoor labor and rural settings – frequent subjects of her paintings. Since 1978 Kansas has been her home. The beauty of the Flint Hills with their soft undulations, wide open spaces, hard rock outcroppings, big skies, and array of colorful vegetation has been a favorite subject of many of her paintings. Capturing the heavenly hues of God’s creation is her constant challenge and delight.

Due to her husband’s work, Jean has lived for short periods in Taiwan, Egypt, Thailand, China, and Guam. These places and people occasionally have been subjects of her paintings.

Jean has been in the Top 200 Art for the Parks. In 2007 she was in the Top 100 Paint the Parks and Top 50 Mini Paint the Parks competitions. She received Honorable Mention in the Pastel Journal in both the Landscape and the Wildlife categories. She received awards in national shows at Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art, St Joseph, MO and the Heartland Artist Exhibition, Merriam, KS in 2007.
