Although a Midwesterner by birth and education, I am slowly making adjustments to my new home in Pittsburgh. This is important because environment inspires a large portion of my work. Technique is also a big contributor and, finally, the innate perfection of the glass is in itself an inspiration. I am lead both by the viscous nature of the molten glass as I form it and by its fragile and translucent qualities when it has solidified. The basis for my aesthetics is to find comfort in the form and its relationship to the viewer. I try to be responsive to their reactions and critiques and sensitive to the environment of place, people and time.
