Doloris Pederson has been professionally active in the Arts for over forty years as an Artist, Art Instructor and Art Collector.
The landscapes in oils of Doloris Pederson grace the collections of Joan Irvine Smith, Irvine, California; the Santa Barbara Historical Museum, Santa Barbara, California; the Carnegie Art Museum, Oxnard, California; Hadley Foundation Collection, Hays, Kansas; and many private National and International collections.
Doloris is a member of the California Art Club and the Oil Painters of America.
In addition to a BS in Fine Arts from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, she has also studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, The California Art Institute, Westlake Village, California; and The Scottsdale Arts School, Scottsdale, Arizona. Among contemporary artists she has studied with Joyce Pike, Ted Goershner and Marilyn Simandle all honorary members of OPA.
After residing in southern California for over thirty five years, Doloris moved back to her native Kansas to live in a country setting.
Doloris currently is a Kansas, Colorado and California Plein Air Painter and is best known for her landscapes, Vistas of the Prairie and wetlands marshes of Kansas, California, and the Rio Grande region of Colorado. She is also known for her paintings of Western Europe especially Italy and Spain.
Her paintings have a classic appeal reminiscent of the Russian Masters, and her work evokes a sense of serenity and atmospheric temperature.
Since painting is a universal visual language, Doloris considers her desire to paint as her most cherished possession.
