I started making pots when I was in high school. I fell in love with
the craftsmanship and engineering involved in making a functional teapot
or cup. I've also always been fascinated with fossils. Different shapes
and forms frozen in stone. I can't help but wonder how different parts
functioned. I am also interested in botany and biology for the same reason.
I'm not as interested in knowing the functions of the parts in these things
as I am in wondering about the possibilities. It's a mysterious function.
That's what I hope these pieces capture. Like cells frozen in time, performing
some unknown dance, some function not to be understood. You provide the
meaning. It's a mysterious function. |
